Very helpful store associates at all levels. Even though this store seemed pretty busy, the store associates were there to help. Excellent compared to others visited in San Antonio, TX.
The store itself is okay. My issue was with the tool rental area. I rented a wood chipper in good faith. Mind you, I'm not an avid tool user but I follow instructions pretty well. I get it home, unload it, read the instructions, and watch the recommend youtube video. We get it turned on and notice that it's kicking back a lot of wood. We inspect it and notice that the dang kickback plate is completely broken off! I'm not willing to run the risk of them blaming it on me so we go through the hassel of taking it back. We get there and the guy inspects it, says we'll get our money back. Then this lady comes running in, saying she had rented a tool for the wrong day and actually needed it for tomorrow. The guy completely forgets about us and starts processing HER refund; meanwhile we're just standing there wasting more time waiting. So, for me, customer service sucked and the safety precautions are severely lacking.
Several staff members passed by while I was shopping for ceiling fans, not one asked if I needed help or had any questions. When I finally decided on 3 fans I walked over to get a basket 2 staff members asked if I was doing okay. When I said I just need a basket to put ceiling fans in, one of them said okay then turned around and continued to chat with the other staff member. The staff members are usually very helpful and very knowledgeable about the products in the store. They are usually very eager to assist with helping to make sure I'm getting exactly what i need. When I went to the self check out line the cashier didn't speak or even acknowledge I was standing there, I asked her if she had a scanner so I wouldn't have to pick up the ceiling fans again. She grabbed her scanner walked over without saying anything scanned my ceiling fans, I didn't get a hello, thank you, goodbye or did find what you were looking for.
Apparently they let you bring your dogs here. Doesn't bother me but if you own a dog this could be a big plus.
These guys know what they are talking about! Very good staff and fully stocked products. Much better than Round Rock location. Go here when you need wood and/or tools. They had the hard-to-find 1x5 pine boards.
Typical home Depot experience: lots of inventory, competitive prices.
